About the cabins
The Locations
We spent almost a year scouting out the best locations for our cabins. Lakes, rivers, forests, coastline. We are incredibly picky, they need to have unspoilt views and be in the middle of nature where the feeling of slow is unmistakable. Places you could truly switch off.
We found two perfect spots. One on the banks of the Tejo river where birds and horses roam while you have your morning coffee. The other, up in the hills of Melides, looking out over a valley of cork forests and rolling hills.
Every guest should know, our cabins are in remote corners of Portugal, that’s the whole point. Getting there is part of the adventure, so expect to dirt roads and dusty cars. Your car will get dusty. But as we like to say, the longer the dirt road, the better the view at the end.
The Cabins
Our cabins have been specially designed to be off-grid. Running all electricity exclusively from the solar panels on the roof. Luckily Portugal has more than enough sun. Being off-grid allows us to place our cabins in the middle of nature and facing the best views.
The cabins come fully equipped with everything you need for an extended nature getaway. The kitchen and BBQ are ready to prepare tasty meals. The bathroom has a shower and eco-toilet. We provide you with all towels, soaps, coffee and other basic supplies.
What’s more, we’ve added some modern luxuries to make it even more comfortable. Air-conditioning to keep it cool, wood burner stove for colder nights. And our favourite part, the bed with the comfiest mattress, fresh linen sheets and two huge windows. You’ll never want to get up.
The Slow Down
How you decide to slow down at the cabins is completely up to you. However, the team at Hiide have designed the cabin to give you a good head start.
First and foremost, sit on the terrace, look out over the view and take a deep breath. We have a number of books to get into and a bluetooth speaker to put some music on.
Why not grab the binoculars and spot some wildlife. Lay out the Yoga mats on the terrace and sync your body. Journal some thoughts or sketch the view.
Spend quality time with another person. Use the conversation cards to get deep. Play the board games we have available. Capture moments with the Polaroid camera.
One of our favourite things to do is to spend a slow evening preparing a meal and cooking out on the BBQ as the sun begins to set.
Feeling adventurous, head out from the cabins and explore the surrounding area. We provide recommendations for hiking trails, viewpoints and nearby sites you can get to by car.
Whatever slowing down means to you. The cabins are the perfect spaces to do it.
